What can I say, this place, the Pantanal, is on a whole different level. Every day holds something special in store & there’s seldom a moment where nothing happens. Beauty is all around you, don’t have to look far. We managed 31 different Jaguar sightings across 7 nights. This was made up of 19 different individual cats! What an experience! To photograph the diversity of the different life zones in Brazil has been a longtime dream for me. In the Northern or Southern Pantanal, besides the immense variety of birds, mammals were a particular photographic interest to me. Such as jaguars, giant otters, giant anteaters, ocelots, peccaries or black-howler monkeys. Ricardo Casarin knew always the best chances where to find them. The same applies to our photographic trips to the Amazon basin to photograph harpy-eagles, several species of tamarin-monkeys, among them the very attractive emperor-tamarin. His ornithological knowledge of bird-calls and bird-identification was very helpful in finding and identifying this immense variety of birds. SouthQuest’s team assistance has greatly added to the success of my voyages and I will not hesitate to contact them again to guide me when returning to Brazil and explore the Atlantic Rainforest.

Traveling with the photographer João Marcos Rosa is always a pleasure. He’s super dedicated (he never tires!) and also excited by each species seen. Very generous, João is always willing to provide the best photo spot, important tips and be super happy when the travelers shot good images. Ricardo Casarin was an amazing naturalist guide during our Pantanal tour. I knew his reputation, but I haven’t met him personally before. He knows a lot about the species, their habits, their scientific names and peculiarities. Super talkative and lively, Ricardo has always something fun to add and make the trip very informative and relaxed.
